I’m still ready for 2019 to bring it on, but so much has changed since writing this post!

Since organizing The Female Solopreneur Community Women’s Expo, a fire has been lit within.

I am loving life right now connecting in person with the amazing local women who are following their own passions and doing what they love.

I have found my gift in putting together the events that will bring them together to learn about their businesses, support and lean on one another, AND to showcase and highlight their hard work.

So, stay tuned…this website will be getting a major overhaul over the next couple of weeks to reflect what my new direction is.

For now, I will be focusing my time on making sure that the Women’s Expo is everything that I envisioned – uplifting, inspiring and empowering – for the lovely ladies involved and for those that will be attending <3

Hold on to your seats! I’m about to do some major sharing here.

I’m definitely one of those, always-busy-never-really-getting-anything-done kind of people.

Ugh! That is a hard one to admit to!

I have been ‘working’ toward starting my own solopreneur journey for YEARS now. (I use the term ‘working’ because, until recently, I have started tons of projects, had lots of ideas, but have never done anything more than save them to my computer.)

Something has shifted. I’m feeling the now or never pull to really put myself out there.

I remember coming across an IG post from Rachel Hollis a while back. Way down at the bottom, toward the end of the post, was something that jumped out to me. She said

“You need to know that dreams coming true aren’t magic… they’re YEARS of work. You need to know that I’m not special, I just kept fighting for my dreams. You want something you’ve never had, you have to do something you’ve never done!”

Now, it’s not like I haven’t heard or seen a message similar to this before, I have. Lots of times.

I have always known that in order to build a business, eventually I would need to ‘do something I’ve never done before’ – I would need to stand up and say, I’m Tara Brown and this is what I would LOVE to do, (sorry, no fancy ‘elevator pitch’ coming your way)…

I want to be able to show solopreneurs that you don’t need mad skills to get your online business started. You don’t need a crazy budget or a flock of team members.

When you are starting out as a solopreneur, it’s just you. It says so in the title! 😉

And that’s okay. In fact it’s great!

It is empowering learning new skills and to be able to step back, with so much pride, and look at what you created yourself. Whether it be a website, creating your own graphics or, something as big as, an online course, you can do it.

I’m here to tell you that it is possible, you know!

Over the years that I worked as a VA, I developed some pretty awesome skills.

When one of my clients needed something done or wanted to use a new program or app, even if I didn’t know how to do it, I said I would do it. I would check it out and learn it for myself.

No special training or schooling. Just a desire to learn something new.

I always walked away from the challenge of learning something new with my head held high.

It is an amazing feeling.

However, I let fear of what other people think and self-doubt get in the way of taking being a VA to the next level of being a business owner.

So, for 2019, I am setting the intention to put myself out there.

If I don’t REALLY put myself out there and let go of the fear and self-doubt, then I’ll never have something that I have never had before; my own, thriving business!

“You don’t have to be great to start, but you do have to start to be great.” ~ Zig Ziglar

So, here I am, starting. On my way to greatness.

One of my best friends, Kelly MacLellan (of Embrace Your Life Coaching), and I started The Female Solopreneur Community last year with the hopes that we could offer a space to other women, like ourselves, to be able to connect with other like-minded solopreneurs.

The community has been growing, but we wanted to take the next step on our collaboration and host a live event.

So, we booked in to do, not one, but two events in next three months! (I will do another post about them this week, but in the meantime, you can check them out here >>> LINK)

We are so very excited and proud of what we are creating.

Having been friends for almost 30 years now, Kelly and I know the importance of having a solid support system. And it is our vision that connecting women through these live events will help them find the tribe they need to flourish.

If I’m being completely honest here, the motivation is a little selfish too.

In turn, by giving other women in business the platform to connect with each other, I too will be making some awesome new connections and friends. It’s a win-win!

2019 has already started out to be great! I can’t believe we are almost a week in already!

Like I said before, I have years of blog posts written but never published, tutorials started and never shared. I will warn you, I may throw in some personal stuff along the way. I’ll try not to overshare, but I can’t promise anything 😉

Thanks for taking the time to spend with me!
